Creating the World and Blue Booking

Some focus needs to be spent on your character’s time as a student. However, as you are all likely taking different courses and participating in different activities, this would likely split the party an absurd amount of the time, leaving everyone else bored while a one-on-one session of Ancient Vaasi 101 roleplay goes on. The amount of prep time it would take me to flesh out every professor and student in your class is also prohibitive.

So, as a solution feel free to keep a Blue Book of your “off screen” time at the University. Flesh out personalities of the students and professors you interact with, and create them as needed. I’m not asking you to write down every day in painstaking detail, but a highlight reel.

Why bother with all this? First, it’ll help give a better grasp of your character if you understand what their day to day life is. Second, this is the only requirement for the Well-Rounded Experience Minor Quest listed in An Education. Third, it gives you a hand in creating the world. Feel free to set up adventure hooks and rumors amongst the students and faculties. It helps give me an idea of where you want the sessions to be going, and I think will help you feel more invested in the world. I don’t expect anyone will go too overboard with this (‘Teacher says Strahd totally just filled in the Shadow Rift with concrete.’), but don’t worry about that too much even. If something simply doesn’t or can’t work, well, rumors aren’t true half the time anyways.
